What is PlayerDugout?
PlayerDugout is a recreational sports network that focuses on the player, and allows you to consolidate your leagues, statistics, and career in one place, all while building a social network of like minded individuals and organizations.
What makes PlayerDugout different?
Most sports websites focus on the league or team as their starting point. As a result, they allow for somewhat useful league or team management, but they never really allow a player to maintain his/her own profile for their career. We believe most recreational players put together quite a sports career throughout their lifetime (from little league to high school to college to rec leagues), and PlayerDugout now allows them to track all of these sports in one place throughout their career on their profile page.
Is PlayerDugout only for baseball?
PlayerDugout is focused on baseball and softball at the moment so that we can offer the best experience for our users. In the future we hope to expand to other sports so our members can track their profile across multiple sports.
How much does PlayerDugout cost?
PlayerDugout is free to join and use for individuals, teams, and leagues.
What can be done with my PlayerDugout profile?
A number of things. Your PlayerDugout profile is a lot like your profile on other social networks, only for your sports activities. It allows you to consolidate your teams and statistics all in one place, as well as add photos, communicate with friends and teammates, and build a network of players, leagues, and teams. Your profile stays with you throughout your career, which gives the more serious players among us with a tremendous ability to track statistical trends and tendencies over time.
Do I need to be part of a league to create a profile?
No. Anybody can create a profile on PlayerDugout. Your profile can be used to upload photos, network with other athletes, find leagues (or have them find you), and enter your personal statistics. If your league becomes part of the PlayerDugout network your profile can then be merged into the official league statistics.
Does PlayerDugout offer league management?
Yes. PlayerDugout offers the best league management available anywhere for free. We can manage your scores and schedule, standings, rosters, statistics, league leaders, playoff brackets, and league history. We do all of this with an easy-to-use and professional interface that includes sorted player statistics, photos, videos, and an interactive message board.
Are there any size restrictions on my league website?
No. Unlike other sites, PlayerDugout offers unlimited storage for all players, teams, and leagues.
Does every member of my league have to be a PlayerDugout member?
No. When running your league with PlayerDugout, you can track statistics, games played, and other things for non-users. Unfortunately, there is no way to track career statistics unless the player is a registered PlayerDugout member.
What does PlayerDugout offer for teams?
PlayerDugout offers the unique “Franchise” feature. We recognize that many teams participate in multiple leagues, tournaments, etc. By tracking all this under one franchise umbrella, we can accurately keep team history information (like how many championships you have won) all-time players and coaches, and tournament records. PlayerDugout also allows teams to track game attendance, send automated alerts, upload team photos, and many other useful features.
Does PlayerDugout allow webpages to be customized?
At this time we do not support changing the background image or colors on your team, league, or profile page. You can say we have taken a Facebook approach rather than a MySpace approach.
